The Government is committed to creating a safer Northern Ireland. Since its Community Safety Strategy was introduced in March 2003, demands from local communities have seen the development of joined-up action through 26 Community Safety Partnerships. Most recently, the Criminal Justice Order (NI) Order 2008 seeks to ensure that the issues most concerning communities throughout Northern Ireland are addressed as promptly as possible.

In February 2008, the government announced that £18 million had been secured to assist in the delivery of front line projects in order to identify and deliver local solutions to local problems and contribute to strategic priorities with a particular focus on anti-social behaviour and violent crime.

Delegates at this event will debate the key issues concerning the future of Community Safety Partnerships and consider how they can overcome long-standing issues.
