General News

Homeless Northern Ireland (www.homelessni.org) is the new source of information about services for homeless people and those at risk of homelessness. It provides full details about a wide range of services so you can find the most appropriate ones for clients (see the attached flyer – already circulated to CHNI members - for further details).

The site was formally launched on 26 April 2007 at a high profile, public event in Maghera. Keynote speakers included Brian Rowntree, Chair of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Nicola McCrudden from Housing Rights Service. Ms Margaret Ritchie MLA, Minister designate from the Department for Social Development attended the event, along with representatives from agencies across Northern Ireland.

Promoting the site

Since launch, the site has received 2,500 visits already. There is an ongoing programme of marketing the site to promote it to agencies in contact with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Please help make Homeless Northern Ireland a successful, well-used resource by visiting the site, encouraging your colleagues to use it and telling other agencies about it too. If your organisation has a website and would like to add Homeless Northern Ireland to it as a link, simply click on this link to find out how: http://www.homelessni.org/details.asp?id=QA76

Finally, do let RIS know what you think of the site by clicking on the Give feedback link on the home page (eg how easy is it to use, are there any services missing?).

Thanks for your help.
