The Low Pay Commission is keen to hear the views of those who have been affected by the minimum wage. In its last two reports, the Commission restricted recommendations on minimum wage rates to one year only. However, this year it has been asked to make recommendations for changes to the minimum wage in 2009 and 2010. The terms of reference are available at www.lowpay.gov.uk.
The Commission will have access to a wide range of published information and so would particularly welcome responses which provide information not already in the public domain, which might not otherwise be available. Evidence supporting the specific views being expressed is especially appreciated.
The Commission's policy is to make responses to its consultation exercises publicly available unless respondents request otherwise and it may quote from responses in its reports. If you don't wish any of the information you provide to be made public (including your identity) please state in your response what should be kept confidential. The deadline for responses on all matters relating to the minimum wage is Friday 3 October 2008.
Please email your responses to lpc@lowpay.gov.uk, or send them by post to Katy Cornish, Low Pay Commission, 6th Floor, Kingsgate House, 66-74 Victoria Street, London SW1E 6SW.
