Starting in September 2008 YouthAction’s Gender Equality Unit will be running an OCN Level III Principles and Practice of Work with Young Women. This programme is designed for volunteers, youth, community or health workers who have been or are interested in developing work with girls or young women.
The programme will be informal and participative and will include theoretical inputs, small group work, reflection, written assignments and direct youth work delivery. Modules will explore the issues facing young women growing up in Northern Ireland today, the impact of feminism and sexism, the value of gender conscious work and the origins of work with girls through the Youth Services in Northern Ireland.
The programme will consist of eight full days training starting in September. The programme will also require autonomous work as well as direct delivery of a programme with a group of young women.
The venue will most likely be in Belfast but this will be confirmed once we know the geographical spread of those interested in taking part in the programme. The cost is £55 for YouthAction members and £75 for non members. (This will include registration fees with OCN).
