General News

  • 'Possibilities' is an innovative new course being delivered by Gingerbread NI in South Belfast and in partnership with BMC Castlereagh campus in East Belfast.
  • 'Possibilities' is an individually tailored 12 week programme that is not only free but also pays you a training premium for days attended and offers help towards travel and childcare costs - whether it's with a registered childminder or a close relative.
  • 'Possibilities' has four main strands - personal development, basic IT, career planning and work experience.

You can chose from over 12 units and mix and match to ensure the programme is exactly what you need and all units can be accredited so you are gaining qualifications at the same time.

The programme is delivered in half-day workshops and is solely for lone parents so you can feel at ease and meet new people who will understand the challenges and rewards of lone parenthood.

As Gingerbread is the lead organisation working with and for lone parents in Northern Ireland you can benefit from a free advice session with our experienced and specialised Advice workers. Our Career's Guidance officer can also help you with future career choices.

Lone parents who participated in the programme last year progressed into further training or employment and all have increased their confidence and made lasting friendships.

Gingerbread are holding an information day on Tues the 26th August at 10.30am in University Street, Belfast. Why not go along and meet the team, fellow lone parents and find out more, children more than welcome too!
