Belfast & Lisburn Womens Aid have developed a 'Peer Educator programme' that is aimed specifically at involving young people to assist in the delivery of training and information sessions about domestic violence.
It is hoped that Peer Educators will work closely with members of staff who regularly visit schools and youth groups. This is a great opportunity for young people to meet new people, experience new things and develop new skills, especially as some of the training is accredited.
It is hoped to have the project operating in time for the new school year in January. To do this we need to recruit about 10 volunteers, aged between 18-25 who will have a morning or afternoon free every week from November. Due to the nature of the work Womens Aid does, it is not possible to involve men in projects.
