We’ve set up a 'fighting fund' with a preliminary donation from NIFHA of £2000. CHNI have also donated, and are proposing that its members make an initial contribution of £250. Funds will be used to continue to engage Weber Shadwick in the delivery of the campaign. All donations, no matter what size, are welcomed.  Queries / contributions, click here.

ABOUT HAW

Homelessness Awareness Week (HAW) is an annual week of social, educational and awareness raising events organised across the country to highlight the issue of homelessness, and to mark the continued efforts of organisations, staff, and service users working in the sector. HAW aims to:

Originally arranged to mark the 40th anniversary of ‘Cathy Come Home’ - Ken Loach's powerful docudrama dealing with a young family's journey into homelessness - HAW is in it’s tenth year.

HAW is a sectoral wide week of activities, typically spanning the week that is made up of the last few days of November and the first few of December. HAW 2016 is scheduled to take place between Wednesday 30 November and Thursday 8 December 2016 (inclusively).

Whilst no one organisation is central to event planning / co-ordination, each year, we list and circulate information about upcoming events, and collate and present reviews of these, post-event. A regularly updated list of events for HAW 2016 are provided below.

HAW 2016: WEDS 30 NOVEMBER - THURS 8 DECEMBER 2016

HAW 2015

A big thank you and congratulations to everyone who made HAW 2015 such a success!

Ricky Rowledge, CEO, CHNI

A variety of events were organised and held by providers, people who are currently or previously homeless, and the wider community, during HAW 2015. More organisations got involved, compared to last year, to raise awareness of homelessness, challenge stereotypes, and highlight the excellent services provided across NI.

From football tournaments, to lighting up the front of Stormont, events innovative, fun, and hard hitting.

It was especially encouraging that service user groups were actively involved this year, as well as MLAs, statutory and voluntary agencies, providers, and their partners.

We thank every one involved, whether they organised an event or simply attended, for their continued support. We hope a good time was had by all!

If you have any pictures and / or reviews of events that you would like to share, please forward onto George Quinn, info@chni.org.uk, and we will collate these on this page.

Once again, thank you for all your hard work. Congratulations!
