CHNI Youth unit currently has three staff:

The Youth Unit seeks to inform and advocate on behalf of young people experiencing homelessness, the youth homeless service sector and related sectors, by:
- Raising the profile of youth housing and homelessness issues in Northern Ireland
- Promoting the involvement of young people affected by homelessness in the development of policy, provision and practice.
- Assisting in the development of local and strategic responses to youth housing and homelessness issues
- Working in partnership with members and the wider homeless service sector to improve the quality and range of services available to young people at risk of / vulnerable due to homelessness.
- Promoting models of good practice for working with young people, including a tailored training programme for staff in the youth homelessness sector. Members: please visit the Youth Unit’s Toolkit section
- Monitoring policy developments and assessing their implications on young people accessing accommodation and support services
- Encouraging and participating in research on issues impacting on young people affected by homelessness.
- Development of tailored Publications and other resources, for example HomeTruths, a series of booklets giving the facts about homelessness, housing & leaving home in Northern Ireland - designed by young people, for young people.
- Delivery of BUZZ Media Project, which provides opportunities for young homeless people in the fields of media and creative arts.
